Time is flying!!

Oh man! I feel like we are back in the phase where 'the days pass slowly but the months fly by'.... Lynden is one month old already. Cute as ever and a very good baby! And Rhea is such a sweet and caring big sister. They are such a tremendous blessing to us. We're awed and humbled that God's given us these 2 precious gifts!

A few quick highlights about life lately...

RHEA:
**She is loving nursery ryhmes and singing right now! She's very quick to pick up on new songs. Some favorites are 5 little monkeys, it's raining, it's pouring, pat-a-cake, row row row your boat. She can sing most of these all by herself and will sing if she doesn't know your listening... but once you catch on and sing with her she gets bashful and she refuses to sing for you if you ask her. Mommy has been singing Steve Green scripture songs with her lately, they are a little more advanced so she doesn't sing along much just yet but she asks for 'more' whenever I am singing them. (It's great for Mommy to have those scriptures tucked away too!)

**She is very loving towards Lynden, always giving her kisses and hugs. She likes to be on 'paci patrol' making sure to find and offer a paci if Lynden is crying. The first 3 weeks or so was a rough adjustment period of her not being the only one needing Mommy's attention but thankfully Gramma was here to help with most of that. Now she is able to play alone much better and understands that Lynden has to eat ;-) Mommy tries to make special time for Rhea each day too, or get out special toys/activities for during nursing times.
**Sleeping in a toddler bed now. She usually sleeps 11-12 hrs at night and a 90min nap during the day after lunch.

LYNDEN:
**A really peaceful baby most of the time, though she does have difficulty burping (but it's getting better!). She has "warmed up" to bath time, only crying when I have to put her clothes on.... she doesn't like stuff going over her head I've figured out.
**Nursing every 2-3 hrs, even at night but will do one 4 hr sleep stretch at some point during the night. She has great 'eat, wake, sleep' cycles during the day!
**Mommy loves kissing all that beautiful dark baby hair!

Welcoming Lynden!

Hello everyone!
Yes, she's already 2 weeks old but here I am finally finding a moment to sit and share a little....

At 9:22pm on Fri Feb 22nd I felt a light contraction. I had had some false labor 2 weeks before so I was not alarmed. I had 2 contraction before Joe went off to work, I told him it was probably nothing, but to keep an eye on his email. The contractions grew more intense but were irregular so I was unsure if it was actual labor or not. I called the after hours nurse around 11:30 and she advised that I go to the hospital because I have a history of short labor (Rhea was 7 hrs). So at midnight I called Al & Linda; Linda came to stay with Rhea and Al drove me to the hospital. I let Joe know that we were on our way. We arrived around 12:30. I was fully dilated (no time for epidural = minor panic). The nurses kept reassuring me that natural is the way to go and that I was almost done. I just believed what they said and kept closing my eyes and breathing through the contractions. Joe signed in at the front desk at 1:16 am. Help my hand through one contraction and the next contraction and push and there she was at 1:22am. Wow. It was an exhilarating experience.
